I’m sure that he wouldn’t mind me saying, but Ken Smith (the man behind Torvine Technology www.torvine.com ) has been around a while. He’s been involved in all sorts of interesting technological challenges during his long career.
Ken was introduced to us through Jon at Stratos Engineering, as he thought that we had the right sort of mindset, expertise and kit to help Ken with his latest projects.
The original intention was to make a 12 hour clock, but this quickly morphed into a model/exhibition piece. This is the first prototype which involved both mirrored and opal acrylic.
Some of it (the arched bridge section with engraving) was cut on our new Trotec Speedy 400 laser machine, while the rest (track and main support) was cut from 15mm Opal acrylic on our 3m x 1.5m bed Multicam CNC Router.
As you can see, it looks equally impressive lit from within with LED’s or unlit.
